Jane was born in England and her maiden name has been found in historical sources as Pullin, Pulling and Pullen. In the 1901 census, Jane Corfield is listed as the Head of a household in downtown Toronto, made up of herself, 4 daughters, a son-in-law, a granddaughter, a grandson and 11 lodgers (quite the full house!). In 1911, 73 year-old Jane lived with her daughter, Mary Thompson and her husband Joseph at 49 Homewood Avenue in Toronto, Ontario (just east of Yonge Street, between Finch and Steeles).
