Stories from the Post
Friday April 29, 2005
5:30 - 7:00 pm
Man hurrying by in a business suit, carrying a briefcase:
"What are you doing?"
His tone of voice told me that he wasn't sure that he actually wanted to know the answer.
Me: "I'm putting up posters for my art project"
Man: "I've seen them up all over the place. What are they about?"
So I told him.
Man: "Interesting. Well…bye."

"Dare I ask?" said a man who was walking arm in arm with a lady friend. They were both wearing warm-up suits.
Then he came up with the most succinct and passionate inquiry into the project thus far: "Why?"
