Insert Yourself Here

Insert Yourself Here is a collaborative photography project between myself and the people in my life: my close friends and family, aquaintances, co-workers and people I meet on the street. In fact, participation in this project is open to anyone! If you'd like to join in, just contact me. This project will last for a few years, hopefully resulting in a collection of hundreds of photographs.

Your task in this collaboration is to somehow create a picture that has you and me in the subject matter. That's pretty much all the direction I will give you: other than the fact that the photograph should contain both of us in some form, you'll have total creative control over the photograph. For my part, I'm going to try my best to be as cooperative as possible about your ideas.

If needed, I can provide a tripod and a digital camera with a timer and a remote control for the shoot. A digital camera is ideal for this project because you can look at the photographs immediately and keep working until you are fully satisfied with the end result. That being said, Insert Yourself Here is open to any photograph that encompasses you and me in its subject matter. As long as it somehow fits those criteria, it is eligible for the project.

After its creation, the image will be placed with all the others on the project website. The only textual information that accompanies each image is the title, which is composed of your first name and the date the photo was taken. That's the form the project will take for now, but bear in mind that Insert Yourself Here may take on other forms in the future such as exhibitions and publications. Who knows? I'll try my best to keep you posted about any news or changes to the project.

Keep in mind that this opportunity is not a one-time deal. If you take a photo with me, and have another idea eight months later, let me know. I welcome repeat customers! I'd ideally like as many photographs as possible. My motto is: the more photographs, the richer and more successful the project.

The last word:

I'd like to point out that you don't have to be an artsy-type to participate in this project. In fact, I'll bet that the vast majority of people who'll be involved with the project don't think they have an artistic bone in their body. The great part about this project is that it involves doing something that we all do in our everyday life: taking pictures. So don't feel any pressure to create a masterpiece, just have fun with it!
